2015 has been a year of weddings. Some of the most eligible bachelor tied the knot and while for a second, our hearts did break, we made peace with it and are happy to see them. Weddings in India are a grand affair with all the Band Baaja Baraat. Bright clothes, loud music, decorations. Lightings and too much of fun. That’s what weddings mean for all of us. And when it comes to celeb weddings, the scenario is all the more appealing.
All politics and significant news flushes down the gutter and all our discussions come down to the couple in talk. It is indeed the hot topic for everyone, gossip girls to aam aadmi to the people in the shaadi business. From invitation cards to the gifts, Lehangas and Sherwani to the designers involved, the sangeet to the D-Day, all find their own limelight.
Let’s take a look at some of the most talked about weddings of the year gone by.
1) Tulsi Kumar And Hitesh Ralhan
The daughter of Late Gulshan Kumar, Tulsi Kumar wedded with Hitesh Ralhan on 22nd February and they held the reception on 2nd of March. From the outfit to the venue, it justified the term ‘king-size’. The bride wore a green-gold lehenga and groom was in gold sherwani with a maroon stole. They were blessed by the Bollywood stars at their reception.
2) Sanjay Hinduja And Anu Mahtani
The most eligible and wealthiest bachelor, Sanjay Hinduja married his long-term girlfriend, Anu Mahtani on 10th February in Udaipur. It was a ‘larger than life’ wedding. Not only was it graced by the Bollywood stars but also Hollywood stars who were invited to perform in the wedding. Jennifer Lopez charges 1 million dollars to perform and they managed to get her on the stage. What else would anyone want from life?
3) Karan Patel and Ankita Bhargava
The Indian Television actor, Karan Patel and actress, Ankita Bhargava were happily married on 3rd May in Mumbai. Surprisingly, Abhay Bhargava is the father-in-law of Karan in a television show named ‘Kitni Mohabbat hai’ as well as in real life. They invited a lot of television stars in their wedding. It was a scheduled to be a destination wedding but due to Karan’s busy schedule, they finally recited for Mumbai.
4) Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput
This was the most awaited wedding of B-town. The heartthrob Shahid Kapoor and the stunning Mira Rajput tied the knot on 7th July in the capital. Despite having a 13-year age gap, they were complementing each other. They hosted a grand reception in Mumbai, inviting all their friends to celebrate their married life.
5) Geeta Basra and Harbhajan Singh
The famous Cricketer Harbhajan Singh got hitched with the gorgeous actress, Geeta Basra on 29th October at Chattarpur farms in New Delhi. Archana Kochhar designed the outfits for the Geeta. She wore a traditional gold and red coloured lehenga while Bhaji sported an ‘achkan’ with breeches. Their wedding cards were designed in a way that it had every bit of Bollywood in them.
6) Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu
Soha Ali Khan happily united with her best friend, Kunal Khemu on 25th January. As per reports, the wedding was a private affair and only close friends were invited to the wedding. Soha’s wedding dress was designed by Sabyasachi. Kareena Kapoor looked gorgeous as ever in a Manish Malhotra outfit and Nawab Saif had a perfect royal look that matched with the wedding. Sharmila Tagore, the mother of the bride, gifted a 9-crore flat to the couple.
7) Suresh Raina and Priyanka Chaudhary
The Batsman from Indian Cricket team, Suresh Raina exchanged vows with Priyanka Chaudhary on 3rd April at the Leela Palace in New Delhi. They know each other since their childhood. They had a grand wedding followed by a first-class reception. The marriage was fixed by their parents. A lot of guests from cricket, politics and Bollywood were invited.
8) Kussh Sinha and Taruna Agarwal
The twin brother of Sonakshi Sinha, Kussh Sinha married his girlfriend, Taruna Agarwal on 18th January. It was one of the lavish wedding of B-town. Sonakshi was really excited about her ‘Bhai ki Shaadi’. It was a tadka of Bollywood stars and Politicians. Narendra Modi attended the wedding and blessed the couple. Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee designed the wedding dresses for the couple.
9) Masaba Gupta and Madhu Matena
Last but not the least, Masaba Gupta, Neena Gupta’s daughter got married in November this year and almost everyone was excited about the whole affair. It was hugely covered by the glamour industry.
